Remember that time in 1975 when the Holy White Hounds released a video for their song “Blind”? Wait, sorry, I was confused by this piece of retro-vibe gold; the year is still 2015 (I think), but for three minutes you can relive what I can only assume the ‘70s were really like.
Misogyny be damned here, there is nothing wrong with lovely ladies hosting a bikini car wash for a van that could only be owned by a rock and roll band. It’s simple and fun, and that chorus of whoa-oh-oh-oh’s will be engrained in your head long after your eyes readjust to the comparative dullness of real life.
I don’t know if it was on purpose, but this video feels like an awesome ‘fuck you’ to the political correctness of our present society. When I first watched this, all I could think about was trendy blogs posting about sexism and how this video is a step backwards for progress and blah blah blah.
If I may be frank—fuck all of that.
Don’t get me wrong, I am 100% behind equality and not exploiting women (or anyone for that matter), but it gets taken too far in my opinion. This video (and many others) is not meant to be taken as ‘exploitative’ or ‘sexist’, it’s just a fun and ridiculous—yet steamy—music video. The Holy White Hounds have embraced that to create something bands are meant to make: entertainment.
Dammit, I apologize, I didn’t mean to get all political and rant-y—just go watch a lovely video for a catchy song by an awesome band and chill out for a couple minutes.
