Bombino “Iwaranagh”|Live From A Queens Rooftop

Meet Bombino a world renowned singer songwriter, whose style as a guiarist is often compared to the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page. Bombino is an Agadez, Niger based artist but has worked with famed US based producers Dan Auerbach (Black Keys), and most recently David Longstreth (Dirty Projectors).

“[The songs are] in Tamasheq, of course, but you don’t need a translation to understand what Bombino’s singing about.”
— David Longstreth

In celebration of his latest record AZEL  (via Partisan Records) we invited Bombino to perform stripped down versions of his most recent release on a Queens rooftop. The moment we shared with Bombino and his crew was magical. Although the clouds were overcast and the sidewalks were slick with rain, as per Bombino’s request we climbed up to the building’s rooftop and as we opened the door the grey skies turned blue, and the sun rose over Bombino as her performed.

We hope you enjoy this special moment captured.

Many thanks to the folks at Partisan Records
