Every day it seems like there is something new and great in music to talk about. However, during CMJ an overload of brilliant talent comes together for a week long of partying, networking, and performing. Here’s what happened across the board from, mega ragers to apartment parties.

The FADER FORT Presented by Converse was back again this year at Converse Rubber Tracks for their annual CMJ showcase. As usual, The FADER FORT featured performances from a diverse mix of artists spanning across all genres.

Day one had Aquilo, Martin Courtney, Modern Baseball, Conner Youngblood, Whitney, Boogie, and Kehlani on the bill. The surprise special guest, Skrillex, closed the night with an energy packed set that included guest appearances from Boogie and Leikeli47, performing tracks like “F**k The Summer Up” and a reprise of Boogie’s “Oh My.”

On the opposite end of the spectrum was our very own Play Too Much ROUNDTABLE showcase at Brooklyn’s Color Station. The intimate party featured performances by Gobbin Jr, Shlomo Franklin, and Joni Fatora. Each artist brought their own incredible mix of  unique styles and sounds for our live session showcase.

Meanwhile, leaving Brooklyn and just over the Williamsburg bridge in the Lower East Side our buddies over at 24West held their annual CMJ Showcase at Arlene’s Grocery last week and it was a banger; crowd of music lovers, beers from Narragansett and a lineup stacked with artists to watch.

Brooklyn’s own electro-pop rock band Syvia opened the show with an electrifying set. OWEL followed up with a massive performance containing loud layers of brilliant sounds reminiscent of Muse.

Indie-pop band Controller got the crowd grooving during their upbeat, dance ready set. Young Empires closed out the night with their fun sound. The perfect blend of  sweet indie pop  and savory rock and roll, it’s no wonder folks were mesmerized.
