PLAY IT AGAIN: Elijah Noll “Need U”

by Chris Pizzolo

Are you high right now? If yes – you’ll love Elijah Noll’s latest video for “Need U”. If you’re not high – I promise you, you’ll still love it!

The video for this catchy, fun upbeat dance track is a hilarious photobomb of pop culture over the last 4 decades. We were so moved by the video that we decided to celebrate 4/20 by asking Elijah a little more about the project.

Play Too Much: The new music is awesome! Tell us a little bit about the song; the writing process, inspiration, etc?

Elijah Noll:  The song came about in a funny way. I started writing it as a love song. When I got into writing the hook “All I need is you by my side, always keeping me high…” I decided it could be cool to flip it and make it a love song about weed. I liked the idea that the song could have a double meaning.

PTM: Well that’s still a love song in it’s own right [laughs]. So, why did you choose to make a video this track?

EN: I was in LA shooting a video with director Erik Rojas for one of my other tracks. He pitched the idea to shoot a video for “Need U”, and had some really dope ideas for it.

PTM: Where was this video filmed?

EN: One night after we wrapped that other shoot, we went back to his apartment and he came up with the idea to shoot “Need U” on a green screen setup in his living room. We had the help of Taylor Harris who handled lighting for the shoot. We shot the whole thing in just a few hours. It was really dope.

PTM: It’s done so well. How did you come up with the video concept?

EN: Erik pitched the green screen idea, and it all evolved from there. He was the mastermind behind all of this. We eventually settled on the channel surfing concept, and that’s when it all came together.

PTM: How involved were you in the making of this video?

EN: Erik shot and directed the video, did all of the visual fx, editing etc. I had the easy job.

PTM: That’s great! Who do you want to shout out for helping make this video possible?

EN: Erik Rojas, Taylor Harris, Mary Jane
