Two nights in a row last week, The Front Bottoms (with support from The Smith Street Band and Elvis Depressedly) played for sold out crowds at Irving Plaza. I had the opportunity to photograph the first of the two nights and the energy in the room was incredible. Up near the stage, there were push pits and crowd surfers. Towards the back people were laughing and dancing and even the balcony was full of fans who were in awe of the amazing energy and spectacle that comes with a performance from The Front Bottoms. No matter where I went in the crowd, fans were singing along and enjoying every second of the community that this raw, upbeat, emotional music has built. It seems that The Front Bottoms are here to stay, and judging by the reactions of the crowd that night, I think New York City is pretty excited about it too.
