“The Universe Doesn’t Make Mistakes” | The Fight For Something Tour | (PHOTO RECAP)

On Saturday, March 5, 2016, The Fight for Something Tour (co-headlined by Tonight Alive and Set It Off) made a stop to a sold out Irving Plaza in New York City.

SayWeCanFly opened up the show with a heartfelt acoustic pop-rock set.

The Ready Set went on second with the high energy performance that fans expect from them after years of making pop music. I haven’t seen these guys play in the last four years, and they have become noticeably tighter since then.

The night continued with Tonight Alive  and there was a special energy in the air for their set, as their new album, Limitless, was released just the day before. This was my first time seeing them live and what stood out most to me was the pure power behind lead singer, Jenna McDougall’s voice. Wow. She. Can. Sing. They also carried a powerful, uplifting message that Jenna spoke about between songs, reminding every person in the room that “the universe doesn’t make mistakes” and that every person there has a say in what happens and has an important role in the world.

Set It Off finished with the most punchy set of the night. From the first chord to the last, they left it all on the stage. Singer, Cody Carson, ventured into the crowd on more than one occasion. (Security didn’t seem thrilled about this, but the fans sure were!) Similar to Tonight Alive, Set It Off also carried a message for fans to take away from the night. Cody spoke about going after what you’re passionate about.  He remarked that their first time playing NYC was a show to 5 kids, in which they didn’t even get paid. Fast forward to 2016 and they’ve sold out Irving Plaza. Proof that anything is possible.
