Swedish singer + songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Andreas Moe is that of a therapeutic kind. Shaped by the equipollent guitar stylings of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jeff Buckley, Moe bred and refined his talent in Stockholm’s youth centers and pubs, much akin to the way his influences began. After becoming a seasoned session guitar player, he signed a UK publishing deal with Phrased Differently, a record deal with Sony for Scandinavia, while sustaining his independent pursuit in other countries.
Flash forward to 2021, Andreas Moe has released his latest project All Our Worries Are Poems Pt. 1; a collection of insight into his walk through troubled times swollen with driving themes and musical makings.
The project commences with “Rise & Fall,” an elegant offering of Moe’s guitar expertise and delicate vocals. The intricacy of the fretwork permits his grit-filled vocals to gently gloss the instrumentation embellishing the song’s mid-tempo cadence that warmly welcomes the project’s second track “Hey Lulu.”
“Hey Lulu” comes as another feel-good, mid-tempo number that encompasses the ideology of escapism and the cherishing of a lifelong friendship. There’s a lot of pristine imagery that coats the lyrics — “We should rent a car that we could never afford / And drive the coastline / Find a place to stop so we can sit on the hood / And drink some cheap wine / We could take a plane to Spain and never go back / And learn the tango / Or stay inside and talk until the sun’s turning black / And take it real slow.”
“Holding On” follows as a song that foreshadowed the works. The song promotes positivity and holds pulsating percussion. The idea of breaking free and letting go is encouraged over heartfelt arias and hyper-strings. About the track Moe shares, “‘Holding On’ is a song that’s slowly been writing itself over several years. I’ve had the chorus recorded on my phone for over three years. To not only be able to complete it, but also finally release it as a single is such a satisfying feeling, as from all my previously released songs, this is the one I’m most proud of.”
All Our Worries Are Poems Pt. 1 concludes with “Wholeheartedly” — a piece composed of a variety of influences like indie-f0lk, contemporary Americana, and everything in between. It’s akin in style to the other three tracks listed on this EP but also gives off its own personality of glee.
Before this release, Moe released his own spin on Kanye West‘s “POWER” and his EP Love Fast, Heal Slow which premiered in 2019. The five-time Platinum-certified singer+songwriter has worked with the likes of Avicii, Tiesto, Sharon Vaughn, John De Sohn, and more, and has toured with artists like John Mayer, Gabrielle Aplin, and Kodaline.
