DED has unveiled their new micro EP Mannequin Eyes via Suretone Records. “A Mannequin Idol (Lullaby)” is the lead single and radio hit, featured on Sirius XM’s Octane along with an anthemic new song “Eyes Sewn Shut.”
Both songs display the band’s bold and dynamic song-craft. They take on the fury of DED’s debut album and intensify the emotions with sympathy for mankind and an interesting awareness. “A Mannequin Idol (Lullaby)” targets the carousel music apparatus and takes on the fraudulent, insignificant, disposition of society that has invaded lives and influenced our discernment of what’s real. The sharp vocals and piano on “Eyes Sewn Shut” distends into a barrier of soaring guitars and propelling percussion. This track is an anthemic song that challenges everything we believe and accept to be true.
“A Mannequin Idol (Lullaby)” comes with an official lyrics video, while “Eyes Sewn Shut” comes with a trippy visualizer of the band’s logo that throbs to the beat of the song, and becomes psychedelic as the beat drops. The lyric video for the lead single has the background of a dark and dead-creepy forest, the words in a wavy and ghost-like font.
“The new music is about clarity through suffering and the frustration that comes with knowing that everyone can be better than they are – that I can be better than I am because change starts with yourself. We want people to strive and try and be conscious of the things they consume, the way they act, the things they share and celebrate, and the way they live their life – to understand how that all affects their soul and what their legacy is going to be,” shares frontman Joe Cotela about Mannequin Eyes by DED.
The forthcoming DED album will be the first release under Suretone Records’ renewed, multiple-year deal with ADA Worldwide for exclusive distribution.
