Rising force, TEDY, has released his debut EP with Sony Music Entertainment CanadaBoys Don’t Cry. The collection of songs was written in a therapeutic way to fill a void in his life and to relate to his peers through music. Through themes of of trauma, his LGBTQ+ struggles, and masculinity, these 6 tracks are each in their own way reflective, bringing a dark, soulful rhythmic pop alongside Tedy’s unique vocals. Each track is ripe with full soundscapes, powerful vocals, and emotional lyrics.

Tedy recently came out to his fans on TikTok, just before releasing his incredible opening track, “Boys Don’t Cry”. Directed and produced by Elliott Muscat and Tristan C-M, the video is an intimate and emotional portrayal of Tedy’s traumatic experiences, and highlights how he has had to mute his emotions to survive. Filmed through a red hue, Tedy is tortured and watches another young boy face the same struggles he once did. He tries to suppress his emotions and fears, while grappling with the pressure to fit in to certain societal views of masculinity. As these challenges reveal themselves, Tedy finally reaches his breaking point, and through his catharsis we finally sense acceptance and release.

“War” follows with a ambient account of growing up and dealing with toxic relationships. With “Stuck”, he opens up about the stressful feelings that come with feeling stuck and alone. On “Twisted (I Hate Myself)” his raw vocals come through and give way to a dark calling for revenge and feelings of resentment. “Fireworks” brings a deeper but more optimistic beat, killer instrumentation, and a powerful chorus singing beside him.  The euphoric “Hopeless” is the perfect closer, with an intense feeling and soulful vocals.

“I think this EP will help a lot of people, just like it helped me. It’s an extreme emotional rollercoaster that is definitely worth the ride,” shares Tedy.

At only 28 years old, Tedy has already proven to be a force in music. Born in Haiti, the Montreal-based artist has created soulful, alternative, rhythmic pop sound that is all his own.
