It’s no secret that since this pandemic hit social gatherings have come to an end – no more parties, theater dates, and certainly no more in-person concerts. That is until someone somewhere thought to apply the drive-in movie theater model for live shows. With movie theaters closed, for the time being, drive-in theaters have seen an enormous comeback – which to be honest should have never have died to begin with. You pack up your car with all your favorite snacks, few blankets, blare the movie as loud as you want, stay a safe distance between other moviegoers and you’re set to have one of the best nights in during a global pandemic – so, of course, why couldn’t you do the same for shows?
Next week Hawthorne Heights are doing just that – for 2 nights in their home state of Ohio, these emo legends will take the stage live in front of screaming fans! On Tuesday, July 21 Hawthorne Heights will be at Van-Del Drive-In in Middle Point, OH – while on Thursday, July 23 they will be at Tiffin Drive-In in Tiffin, OH. Tickets are $50 but before you let that number scare you away, that price is for each CARLOAD – that’s right, you can not only pack up your car with snacks [for an additional fee], but you can load in as many emo kids as you [safely] can into any vehicle! Rock out to your favorite band from high school all while maintaining a safe social distance!
While this will most definitely be a night to remember, fans that don’t live in Ohio can still get the chance to see Hawthorne Heights perform live from the comfort of their living room. Wednesday, July 22 will be reserved exclusively for any fan who brought a piece of HH merch valuing $10+ from July 1-19, as a special thank you to the fans who helped out in keeping “the Hawthorne ship afloat during these tough times.” So while you may not get to experience your first ever drive-in concert, you will be able to rock out in your pj’s.
