The Silk War coming eveningAs the five-piece alt-rock outfit The Silk War celebrates the recent release of their debut LP Come Evening, the band is getting ready to toast their triumphant full-length debut in grand style at New York’s premiere intimate concert venue Berlin. With support by blues-rock singer-songwriter Fiona Silver, the band looks forward to playing some of the eclectic record’s most exciting cuts live for the very first time. Following the show, fans can look forward to a late-night dance party DJ’d by Kristine Barilli and DJ OJ, as well as go-go dancing with The Groovy Babies. The fun starts August 26 at 7:30pm EST, with doors opening at 6:30, and attendees must be 21 or older to enter.

The Silk War’s ’80s new wave inspired debut has definitely given the band a lot of strong press lately, receiving acclaim from Alternative Press, Music Connection, and Soundigest. Recently, the group’s boldly self-styled lead vocalist Alexandra Blair was even profiled by Vogue.com, highlighting her monochromatic rock and roll-inspired aesthetic and existentialist inspirations. As one gets to know Blair and her dynamic styling, it’s pretty evident that those influences definitely translate on Come Evening as well.

From the angst-fueled single “Velvet” to the upbeat tribute to the band’s hometown “New York,” The Silk War’s new record certainly gives their growing fanbase a lot to be excited about. The record is an admirable showcase of the band’s tasteful take on classic alternative rock in the vein of ’80s pioneers like Blondie and The Cure. As the band’s principal songwriter, Alexandra Blair is never shy about taking on hot-button social issues like bullying, depression, and gun control. Earlier this year, Play Too Much remarked on the new record:

“This project has variety and a great sound. It is almost hard to believe that this is the band’s debut album. They have already developed a seasoned sound and we are sure that they will continue to amaze us in the future.”

We’re definitely looking forward to seeing the gothic rock and roll cadre bring their best to their album release show at Berlin in New York City, as fans finally get to experience “Come Evening” in a live setting. It all goes down next Thursday, August 26th, so don’t miss out! Tickets are available for purchase through the link below.
