Last week, post-hardcore collective, Thursday, revealed that they had planned an incredible August tour with a lineup that included, Cursive and And So I Watch You From Afar. The tour was scheduled to run across the US and into Canada but due to the deadly pandemic, they held off on announcing a tour that they knew in their hearts probably wasn’t going to happen this year. However, Thursday has always been a band to continue to push past their boundaries – and they’d be damned if they let a little geographical distances stop them from doing something to make their fans smile. On August 5, they announced something that they had never tackled before – their first attempt at a virtual festival broadcasted and performed across the world!
In their official Facebook statement, Thursday announces, “Thursday has always laughed in the face of geography, technology and even time itself! Therefore we are delighted to announce Signals V.1, our first foray into the world of Thursday curated virtual festivals. Come hang on August 19th as we defy the very boundary of land and ocean to effortlessly transport you to Belfast, Northern Ireland where And So I Watch You From Afar will be your guide as you radiate between green forests and astral planes. Fasten your seat belt for a quick inter-continental trip to Los Angeles, California and into the home of BIRTHDAY BOY Tim Kasher who will regale you, as only he can. Speaking of Belfast, did you know that DeLorean cars were manufactured there? Well your boys were able to ‘borrow’ one and after months of planning, we were finally successful in stealing a flux capacitor from the Trump Administration. We will be using our newly acquired (and not entirely legal time machine) to take everyone back to October, 2019 for a never seen or heard before (multi camera) Cursive extravaganza at the world famous St Vitus in Brooklyn. No great celluloid motion picture is complete without a dystopian part where the heroes save the day, so once the Cursive feedback rings out, you will be magically transported back to modern day Brooklyn where Thursday will perform a live set unlike any we have ever done before, in our beloved Vitus.”
We as a society have quickly grown accustomed to virtual concerts over the last few months, but never has any musical act broadcasted their virtual concert from multiple states and countries around the world! Yesterday, Thursday cordially invited fans to the Church of Thursday where [keeping in tune with the massively successful super churches] – they won’t be giving your money back but they do “promise a nirvanic experience!”
To make this first-time experience extra special – Thursday released a handful of free tickets and merch to help out those fans who are currently unemployed due to the pandemic but still deserve a break from this stressful chaos, noting to fans, “We have to look out for each other, so please don’t try to snap these up if you are not.” Tickets are only $10 and can be found – along with their merch bundles – linked below. This whole thing kicks off August 19 at 4pm EST – praying for this ridiculously incredible, new-age experience goes off without a hitch.
