After the successful release of their first full length album in nearly a decade, punk outfit You, Me, and Everyone We Know are gearing up for a live performance celebrating its release. The show is set to take place this Saturday, October 30 at Kingsland in Brooklyn, NY.

Their second show of 2021 comes after the release of their highly anticipated album Something Heavy, released back in September via Know Hope Records. After undergoing mental health treatment, lead singer Ben Liebsch offers up their new perspective of life through the record. With a respectable amount of time tucked away for reflection and self growth, Something Heavy marks the band’s first album since their 2016 hiatus.

The album’s leading single, “draggedacrossconcrete” is an intense, punk-heavy anthem. The three minute song packs a punch, with intense moments — “First terror, then lunch/You learn to live with the bunch/You feel stuck yеt still somehow come unglued.”

Mannequin Pussy bassist and vocalist Colins “Bear” Regisford can be heard lending fierce background screams echoing the chorus. Liebsch spoke on the meaning behind the screaming, saying “Sometimes you’re angry and sad and desperate and dealing with a flimsy grip on reality all at the same time. There was, and IS now and again, a scream inside me that I felt would kill me if I ever let it out and yet sometimes at the same time there are no words. The chorus is meant to symbolize that scream.”

In its entirety, the album is a celebration of Liebsch’s growth. Rather than an album full of pandemic-driven existentialism, each song looks at the brighter side of life. On “Better Than I Ever Was,” Liebsch sings, “We’re doing better than I ever was/Shooting confetti cannons just because/We are a swarm of bees can you hear the buzz?/We’re doing better than I ever was.”  The song begins by looking back on their past, while the chorus recognizes the beauty in growth.

The band will be taking the stage in just a few days on October 30th at 7pm. Armed with self-growth anthems, they’ll be performing alongside Proper, Best Ex, and Chousand, with tickets set at just $15. They took to their website to announce the concert, expressing how excited they are to see their fans once again.

When they’re not penning deeply personal lyrics or tearing up the stage, the band can be found posting hilarious memes about their music. With their easy-going, goofy nature, you can’t help but be pulled in. Whether you’re a lifelong fan who rode out the hiatus, or you just heard them for the first time, You, Me, and Everyone We Know has a spot for everyone. Tickets are still available and can be found linked below. This return to the scene will surely bring back flood of emotions as You, Me, and Everyone We Know delivers Something Heavy on October 30.
