Chris Berardo and The DesBerardos have been taking over the underground rock scene for years but now they are starting to gain the proper recognition they rightfully deserve. Tucked away in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Chris Berardo and The DesBerardos took over Rockwood Music Hall on a rainy October night to deliver a night of good vibes and nostalgia.
From the moment Chris and his crew stepped on stage, they felt familiar – like the local band that grew up with your parents and always played the pub on Friday night. They felt like the first band your dad ever showed you to get you excited about rock music. They felt like the missing piece from your musical collection.
There’s something about chasing nostalgia that will never become tiresome – we all crave a moment of remembrance. Chris Berardo and The DesBerardos gives us back those days of being young and in love, thinking your invincible and remembering the first time you realized you weren’t. There’s a reason why nostalgia is so overly sought after – those times of remembrance bring back those emotions in a raw state. Emotions we may not have felt in a while or those we have become numb to.
As their folk-rock melodies wash over you, their music transports you back to a time of manual car windows, long family road trips and when every radio station was blasting Hootie and The Blowfish. The DesBerardos lineup features a 6-piece with a variety of talent and life experiences, all blending together seamlessly which makes their music transcendent through the generations. Chris Berardo and The DesBerardos are easy to listen to because they feel like home – they give us the classic old school rock vibes with lyrics derived from their own personal experiences.
Chris Berardo and The DesBerardos musical range became evident with a crowd that sampled someone from each generation – good vibes rang high as fans, friends and family boogied down, mellowed out by the bar or just soaked up the rhythm with a front row seat. Even though their set featured a long list from their discography, it just didn’t feel like enough. Inside the Rockwood, Chris Berardo and The DesBerardos had created a warm and inviting night with a new family we had never met – but as they closed out their set and it became time to re-enter the world of NYC, we left with new memories to be turned into moments of nostalgia and new music to be shared with generations to come.
