On May 19th The Beaches came to Pier 17 to open for Passion Pit and these 4 ladies blew the roof off this roofless venue.
From the moment The Beaches took the stage, the electro-pop/rock energy was infectious. This power house of a group took over the night in playing tracks off their latest EP release, The Professional – including “Fascination” and [my personal favorite] “Snake Tongue“. What makes “Snake Tongue” such a necessary and relevant track in the current social and political climate is that it’s all about toxic masculinity making men feel entitled a woman’s body simply because they’re a man.
In between their incredible energy and undeniable passion they took a moment to thank everyone for “coming out early and staying the night even though it was the finale of Game Of Thrones” – but judging by GOT fans’ reactions the next morning, clearly we had made the right choice by watching The Beaches absolutely kill it. There’s no denying that these women are a force to be reckoned with in the music world, but don’t just take our word for it – legendary Sir Elton John spoke on them saying “They are such great girls and they do rock out. Love them, love them, love them!” – talk about a vote of confidence.
Clearly The Beaches are headed for big things at record speed, so catch them at a show as soon as you can – it won’t be long before they’ll be selling out arenas with their tickets costing hundreds.
