Jeris Johnson refuses to slow down as he releases his remix of “Can You Feel My Heart.” Bring Me The Horizon’s outstanding track from their Sempiternal-era, gets a Jeris-styled makeover — resurfacing with a futuristic twist only the TikTok superstar could bring.

Bring Me the Horizon is famed for pioneering the fusion between electronic music and post hardcore. “Can You Feel My Heart” introduced the glitchy blend to the masses, successfully creating a new anthem for the scene. It’s been 8 years since the record’s release and since then, Sempiternal has marked a turning point for not only the scene but also in the band’s career. Now, Jeris Johnson remixes the track, bringing new life to it. Jeris is at the forefront of change in the industry with this collaboration, as social media alters the dynamic of the music industry as a whole.

Johnson speeds up the track, and brings forward singer Oli Sykes’ famous raspy and forceful vocals in the intro. He then dives in with his own verse and spin on the chorus. Jeris‘ efforts to marry elements of the track new and old can’t be ignored. A gritty and raw rap-like verse with a galloping percussive beat, leads into bass drops and melodic chorus. Overall the track alternates between Sykes’ original verse and Johnson’s additional contributions. Pulsating synths back up the iconic bridge that builds up to harder beat drops. It’s different from the known siren-like hook and distorted heavy guitars. Rhythmically, the reprised track is altered via choruses as to refresh the song and bring an updated element to the track, “Rock has been stuck in the mud for too long and doing shit like this is part of what’s gonna bring it into the fucking future. “

Jeris Johnson has been making waves on TikTok, where the idea for the collaboration originally came about. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it until my last dying breath. The power of TikTok and the internet is unmatched. This just keeps happening to me over and over again and I feel like people are really starting notice what we’re doing to the music industry. The fact that I could post a remix of ‘Can You Feel My Heart’ and wake up with Oliver Sykes in my DMs is mind blowing.” Jeris posted a video giving followers a peek at his progress on the track, which then made it’s way to the band. Impressed by what he heard, Sykes reached out publicly and the two got their gears turning together.

Jeris Johnson credits his musical talent to the influence of his parents, both being musicians. Their unwavering support encouraged Jeris to hone his talents. He started off as a drummer and playing for his high school band Audiophobia. The rise of Soundcloud Rap pushed Jeris’ interests to music production, where he taught himself to produce his own tracks. He cites Ski Mask The Slump Dog and XXXTentacion for guiding the genre. Johnson then experimented with elements of metal, rock and grunge to fuse with glitchy electronic production styles. He is one to watch, cementing himself in uncharted territories between the lines of several genres.
