American Teeth continues to share pieces of himself through music. Today, he shares double single, “Fix You + E-Girl,” he offers electric alt-indie jams that’ll keep your head bobbing along. This release follows his most recent video for “One of Those Days,” and the release of single, “Barred Out [feat. TWIN XL].” American Teeth shows off more of his musical capabilities with the release of these two dynamic and contrasting singles.
“Fix You” eases into a chilled-out indie-style intro. Starting with a pulsating guitar and strong drum beat, the track plunges into an energetic and riffy moment. American Teeth amps it up with electrifying choruses, pulling the plug to take you back to mellow verses. With every thrashing chorus you can hear feelings of frustration, “Yeah we love so hard ’til there’s nothing left. And it makes no f*cking sense to me.”
American Teeth us through this roller coaster of a song, presenting more sensitive emotions through his lyrics. American Teeth speaks on the release, “’Fix You’ came out of an instrumental track that Colin Brittain and Alex Gaskarth [All Time Low] had created. I really connected with the feeling of it during that time and sat and wrote my demo in one night. Alex’s guitar part was a voice memo he had sent Colin while on tour and it had a feeling to it that couldn’t be replaced.”
“E-Girl,” flaunts American Teeth’s grittier vocal style — a punchy guitar riff and galloping drums provide the back beat for this lyrically in-your-face track. It’s another duo-toned journey, with contrasting soundscapes that melt into one cohesive song. The racing instrumental is counters American Teeth’s monotonous, almost spoken word-like vocals. He lets loose in the choruses, allowing himself to use full-forced screams. Towards the end of “E-Girl,” he delivers a single melodic line, “Heart eyes and tears make for good times.” Then, he picks up the pace one last time for the final chorus. There’s a lot packed in this song, and it’s impressive to see it’s only seconds under being a whole two-minute track.
American Teeth is Elijah Noll’s musical alter ego. He collaborates alongside producer Colin Brittain [All Time Low, A Day To Remember, ONE OK ROCK, Papa Roach] for his music. American Teeth is a cyborg. He has a mechanical valve in his heart that replaced a faulty valve as a teen. His music is a much the same, together with Brittain, they specialize in fusing traditional instrumental sounds with shimmering synths to create catchy hooks on breezy tracks.
Hailing from Portland, Maine, American Teeth has released numerous singles. He amassed over a million streams already, despite just scratching the surface of his career. He was recently named one of Alternative Press’ 100 Artists You Need to Know. If you like the catchy melodies of Waterparks, lyricism of Vaines and the simple honesty of Nothing, Nowhere, lend an ear to American Teeth.
