LISTEN: BAYLI Releases “think of drugs”

Pop innovator BAYLI has just release her latest single “think of drugs.” Coinciding with the release is the announcement of BAYLI being Spotify’s EQUAL Ambassador for the month of PRIDE. EQUAL is a program that celebrates women around the world making waves within the music industry. Through her raw talent and honest lyrics BAYLI’s “think of drugs” is fixing to become a staple on every playlist.

Speaking on the single BAYLI shares, “I wrote this song about a year ago in Montreal at my good friend and producer, Brody Myles’ studio. We were on a mission to write our most heartfelt and intimate
tracks. Songs like this are a big reason it’s really important for me to be friends with my
collaborators because we’re sharing such vulnerable thoughts and experiences while in the studio
and it’s so important to make sure that the studio is a safe space.”

Opening with a gentle beat, “think of drugs” unleashes carefree and chaos soaked lyrics delivered by a soothing voice. Built to echo the mayhem of finding new love — becoming addicted to the tingling feeling and throwing logic out the window. Amongst the disarray of rollercoaster emotions, you’re left arguing with yourself on if this connection is real or is it just toxic fun. A question too many are left wondering in hindsight — especially for those of us who grew up in households ruled by addiction and toxic relationships.

BAYLI continues, “Writing a song like this feels a lot like journaling and venting to your best friend. I really like to be memoir-esque with my writing, ‘think of drugs’ covers stuff from my family
upbringing to my current struggles now and feels like a raw and real intro if you’re just getting to
know me as an artist.”

“think of drugs” follows BAYLI’s previously released single, “TELLY BAG” — released just last month, it has already amassed over 100,000 Spotify streams alone. An ode to BAYLI’s love for Telfer fashion and her queer identity, “TELLY BAG” aims to be the power anthem used to motivate all Black, queer, and the baddest of the bad bitches forward as they navigate this planet.

Refusing to ride the curve, BAYLI breaks off on a fresh path — her own path. One that is fueled with hope, power, a creative edge and a sense of street fashion that would have made Bill Cunningham snap a pic or two. With two releases back to back, there is no chance BAYLI plans to slow down for the remainder of 2022 — so don’t blink.
