Drug Church TawnyDrug Church unleashes the title track for their upcoming EP, Tawny. This single is full of in-your-face instrumentals. Its punky attitude braces us for what’s to come for the full release. Tawny arrives on June 25th via Pure Noise Records.

“Tawny” maintains a towering guitar pulse, and drums that lash out the track’s power. It introduces the high energy of the EP. Drug Church brings forth their signature catchy hooks while letting loose on the aggression. With lines like, “Your lonely gravesite nobody visits in the daylight. For fear your name might expose what we already know, about those sonsovbitches who only tell but never show.” Vocalist Pat Kindlon is never one to hold back on blunt lyricism.

The track is anthemic and thunderous, with multilayered voices chanting out punchy and ambitious verses. Stomp along as the track reaches a slow build, before growing into a wall of sound. Kindlon comments on the track, “People are so happy to not be in the guillotine, they’ll cheer at anyone else’s execution. I’ve about had it with that.” Just when you think the track can’t be anymore fierce, the band breathes even more life into its climactic ending moments. Layers of racing guitars lead into a choral rejoice before the track fizzles out.

Drug Church announces the arrival of the EP, Tawny, which will be unveiled on June 25th on Pure Noise Records. The band is excited to share a collection of tracks that have expanded beyond their typical catalog of songs. Showcasing growth in expansive tracks like crushing 2020 single, “Bliss Out,” and a cover of Arcwelder’s “Remember To Forget.” Additionally, they share “Tawny” and “Head-Off” to strut their ability to write dynamically and prepare us for what’s to come.

The band works between Albany New York and Los Angeles. Consisting of members Pat Kindlon, Nick Cogan, Cory Galusha, Pat Wynne and Chris Villenueve, the band continuously share larger than life, attitude-packed tracks. The band’s signature sound lies between captivating hooks and hard-hitting instrumentals. Drug Church has toured alongside bands like Boston Manor, Movements, and Alexisonfire. They may be too pop for the heavy crowd, and too heavy for the pop crowd. But Drug Church has surely cultivated a following of those who love the middle ground.

The band focuses on uncomfortable truths, delivered by “singer” Kindlon, who more so shouts than sings, and forcefully yells rather than screams. And instrumentally, they snag influences from post-hardcore music to punk bands like Black Flag. For those who enjoy Fiddlehead, Trash Boat and the forceful styles of Title Fight, Drug Church is well worth a listen. Keep an eye out for more news, as the band even hinted at an LP release to follow Tawny, making sure we are never left high and dry.
