Known for his bad-boy status as Chic Cooper on the hit CW series Riverdale, Hart Denton is ready to take his career to the next level with his first love, music. Debuting his spot in the music industry with “Inside Me,” Denton is very excited to share his art with the world. Recorded in his garage at home, he achieved an intimate sound with “Inside Me” – the debut single tells a fictional story of a pregnant woman who has been abandoned by her partner and is left with the feeling of his presence in the body of her unborn child.
Hart had surprised fans with live videos of the song, teaming up with Riverdale co-star Rob Raco on drums and the bassist of Panic! At The Disco, Nicole Row, to create “Inside Me.” Inspired by Nirvana, Denton’s writing process is, similarly, always a form of spontaneity rather than a thought-out process. His traveling and love for nature are two key inspirations for his songwriting process, as he understands the value of being alone in an unfamiliar place, directly affecting his efforts to continue creating.
The single has a clear grunge-feel with an overpowering electric guitar and Denton’s gritty vocals, “Inside Me” definitely has a very different feel than what Riverdale fans are used to with the artist.
Hart has been convinced music was his destiny since the days he walked Beale Street listening to the blues that leaked from the clubs alongside the road. Also being a distant relative of country music legend Roy Acuff, the Conway, Arkansas native grew up taking weekend trips to Memphis to visit the home of Elvis Presley. He fell in love with the Tennessee music scene and has been inspired his whole life.
Denton has acknowledged that his role in Riverdale changed his life immensely, but he is more than ready to dive back into his passion for music. “I get to transcend and go someplace else whenever I play or record. I’ve been doing this my whole life, but before this, it’s been just for me,” he says. “Now I’m ready to share my songs with everybody. If it means I can travel the world, and tour 365 days a year, that would be my dream. Music saved my life, and I hope my songs can do the same for someone else.”
Denton wants his listeners to take away a feeling of unity from his music, that has been stolen away by the pandemic – hoping no one feels completely alone in their struggles. To help overcome the overwhelming feeling of loneliness, Denton will head out on the road in his Jeep with a tent attached so he can find inspiration in the wilderness, and make more compelling and beautiful music in the middle of nowhere where he finds the most creativity flowing through him. But in the meantime, another single will be dropping soon.
