Indie pop artist, Lorelei Marcell has just released her latest musical endeavors with “Masterpiece.” Teaming up with singer-song writer, The Grand Mess, the duo unveil one of the most honest releases of 2022. Lined with the message of moving forward while also acknowledging the regrets of the past, “Masterpiece” delivers it in what can only be described as a lullaby for the forever learning adult.

Inspired by a quote she heard on a podcast — “The most common feeling we feel is love, the second most common feeling is regret” — Marcell started to reflect on her past. Basking in her positive moments but soon becoming overwhelmed with the times that she may have done something wrong or embarrassing. It was in this remembrance came a revelation — moving forward isn’t halted by the things we got wrong, it’s halted by not being able to forgive our mistakes. 

Splitting the verses between herself and The Grand Mess, we get a more complete picture of the past. A picture that is often one sided and we’re left to either take it at face value or wonder about what’s missing. “I’m breaking up the masterpiece. It shattered right in front of me. I’m breaking up the masterpiece, ‘cause I’m tired of floating around you, the smoke never clears if you don’t move” coos throughout the track — washing over you with the reassurance that it’s ok to throw out the broken mirror rather than try to put the pieces back perfectly. 

Speaking on the addition of the real life recording of a younger Marcell and her mother she shares, “I wanted to add in a recording of my mom and I talking at the end, not just because I think it fits well, but because it speaks to who we are judging so harshly. A younger, innocent, and beautifully vulnerable version of ourselves.” 

“Masterpiece” joins Marcell’s previously released single “Need Me” in what is gearing up to be a string of new releases from the artist. While Lorelei Marcell may be new to the scene, having only debuted in 2019, that hasn’t stopped her from amassing over a million cumulative streams independently. Additionally, her raw, emotional tracks have garnered the attention from the likes of GRAMMY Award-nominated songwriter JHart [Justin Bieber, Keith Urban, Usher]. With a clear head on her shoulders and desire to share her passion with all that will listen, Lorelei Marcell will be one to watch.
