There’s no turning back now – McFly return with new music in the best way possible

McFly Happiness review

Happiness Young Dumb TrillsInspired by the 80s cult classic, Back To The Future, McFly popped out onto the scene all the way back in 2003. Taking over the UK charts since their start, it wouldn’t be until 2006 when they would be featured in the Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine rom-com Just My Luck, that they would be responsible for the second British Invasion of the US. While McFly stayed relatively consistent in releasing new music and touring around the world, fans would soon find themselves begging for new music after their 2010 album, Above The Noise. As the years went on, their career bounced from tours to various label affiliations, to even creating a new entity with members from McFly and Busted to unveil McBusted. Yet fans always hoped that the British pop-rockers that they fell in love with would return – but their hearts would be repeatedly broken as McFly would yo-yo from hiatus to tour to even scrapping two albums that had been written since Above The Noise. But with the release of The Lost Songs in 2019, fans held their breath that this time would be different. In January of this year, McFly revealed that they were back in the studio – but it would be nearly 7 long months before fans would FINALLY get what they’ve been begging for.

9 years, 8 months, and 11 days – those numbers echo around fans as of Thursday, July 30 would reveal the FIRST single off their new record! Happiness starts off with an old-timey jazzy intro that’s reminiscent of game show intros from the 60s and 70s – which some McFly fans would argue is more than fitting since it feels like it been that long since they’ve been waiting for new music. With a bright tempo, smooth vocals dance across the airwaves in the most romantic way. Spouting a modern-day love song for every occasion, Happiness delivers vibes so sweet they’ll give you a cavity.

It’ll come as no surprise that fans will most definitely have Happiness on repeat for the next few months before they finally get the chance to welcome McFly’s sixth studio album Young Dumb Thrills on November 13. Now yes, November 13 is a Friday – and yes Friday the 13th typically gets people slightly nervous, and sure, fans have been begging for this for nearly a decade – but honestly, with everything that has happened over the course of the band’s 17-year lifespan, surely a day dedicated for the superstitious wouldn’t hinder this monumental moment…right?

Well, as we bless the halls and sage everything for the next few months, we’ll be doing it with Happiness playing in the background. Young Dumb Trills is currently available for pre-order on CD, vinyl, and cassette and can be found linked below. Check out Happiness and let the good vibes roll.
