Parisian indie rock band, Pærish, releases sludgy new single “You & I” featuring Patrick Miranda of Movements. The track comes off the band’s forthcoming album, Fixed It All, which is due out April 23rd 2021 with SideOneDummy Records. Today they share another peek of the record.

“You & I” leads with a contemplative tempo set by the pulse of sludgy guitars and splashing cymbals. It transitions into the sweet verses where Pærish takes their time. Vocalist and guitarist, Matthias Court, takes the forefront with a monotonous croon before settling into the chorus. The instrumentals lift the spirit for the chorus as Court’s vocals are harmonized and there is space between all the various tones. It kind of sounds like a slow spiral, but lyrically is heartfelt. “’You & I,’ It’s already there, but I can wait all day.” Court says, “The song is about not being in a rush to fall in love. I’m talking to a person that isn’t in my life but might someday be. It’s a love song about someone that hasn’t shown up yet.”

Then, the band sets up the track for Patrick Miranda — he enters with his signature rasp he often uses for emphasis in Movement’s earlier music. Miranda is a refreshing addition to the track, the aggression in his style of vocals adds duality to the sweetness behind the lyrics sung. The best lines being, “I’ve got the time to waste Another life lived in your endless embrace.”

Initially, the members of Pærish met at film school in Paris. Despite being in film, the four students find themselves sharing a primary passion for music. Ultimately getting together and trading scripts for songs, filming sets for concert stages and setting aside cameras for instruments. Their storytelling skills resonate in their lyrics, Pærish songs provide the soundtrack to love, loss and trying to make sense of the world around them.

Will Yip produces the upcoming record. He is most notable for working with Anthony Green, Balance and Composure, Citizen, Turnover and numerous other staple indie-emo bands. He excitedly praises Pærish, excited for the release, “Getting to collaborate with them was an incredible experience. Their passion in their craft was infectious. They deserve to be huge. Honest, real, but massive songs.Pærish has supported bands in Europe like Silversun Pickups, Movements, and Sum 41. “You & I” joins previously released singles and videos “Fixed It All”, Archives and “Violet.Paerish’s next album, Fixed It All, arrives April 23rd, 2021 via OneSideDummy Records.
