LISTEN: Set It Off Drops Another ‘MIDNIGHT’ B-Side “One Single Second”

The guys from Set It Off have just given fans the best Valentine’s Day gift, the next track from their After Midnight series, “One Single Second.” The question from fans is “how many Midnight B-sides are there?” The band has released a new B-side from their latest album Midnight every month since December, so hopefully, there is more coming in March!

Despite being released on the national day of love, “One Single Second” by Set It Off is about the heartbreak from a lying and toxic lover- the chorus saying it all: “‘Cause I don’t believe you / For one single second, for one single second / Found out that your truths / Come one in a million, come one in a million / Yeah I gotta go where my heart lies / And you wanna go with a lie / And I don’t believe you / For one single second, for one single second at all.” The heavily electric-guitar-filled midsection compliments frontman Cody Carson’s pop-rock vocals. Having experimented with different sounds in the past, Set It Off incorporated gospel, hip-hop, pop-punk, and pop-rock in previous releases. However, “One Single Second” maintained their angsty roots with the punk-rock sound going along with heartbroken words. With Carson’s amazing vocals and a ridiculously catchy chorus, Set It Off’s latest release will surely keep fans satisfied until their next casual drop.

Set It Off first got together in 2008 in Tampa, Florida, and gained a following through Carson’s YouTube channel. After releasing several successful albums, Set It Off was signed by Equal Vision Records. In 2018 they signed to Fearless Records, and in February 2019 the band released the A-side of Midnight, their fourth studio album, through the label.
