New Zealand musician, Andrew Spraggon, better known as Sola Rosa, released a new song “Searching For Love” with Kiko Bun. The track combines soul with reggae in a well-crafted way that listeners can groove to.
Sola Rosa utilized a variety of collaborators on the song’s initial writing process — Peter Leupolu, Dixon Nacey, and Matt Short. Kiko Bun appeared, providing lyrics and vocalization, after Spraggon watched his performance with UK duo The Nextmen.
“The song came together quite quickly, when I sat down in the studio, I heard the first stages of the beat and thought ‘Yep, that one,’ and it kind of wrote itself,” said Kiko Bun about the song’s crafting process. “I always try to write from my life experiences, so this wasn’t too difficult. Straight from the heart.”
The new piece “Searching For Love” is also the first glimpse of Sola Rosa’s forthcoming LP Chasing The Sun. After five years of piecing it together, this is just the first of many musical collaborations on the album’s tracklist.
“I’m very excited to finally be releasing ‘Searching For Love’ featuring Kiko Bun, as the first single of many in the lead up to the new album, ‘Chasing The Sun.’ There’s been multiple trips around the world and collaborations with some incredible musicians and artists,” said Sola Rosa. “This is easily the most collaborative album I’ve ever made.”
