Indie pop act, The Japanese House has finally unveiled her new single “Dionne”, featuring Grammy-award winning songwriter, Justin Vernon. The single lives freely while also being housed on her latest EP release, Chewing Cotton Wool – also available everywhere today via Dirty Hits Records. The Japanese House comes from the brilliant mind of Amber Bain and opens up a world full of free thinkings and easy movement.

Chewing Cotton Wool comes in the wake of The Japanese House’s critically acclaimed 2019 debut album Good At Falling. The EP features an in-depth glance into the mind of this soulful songstress. Her previously released track, “Something Has To Change”, [while released in 2019] becomes the unsung anthem of 2020. The words “something has to change” echo throughout its 3-minute existence, becomes deafening as the message is drilled into our bones.

The newcomers to the table are “Sharing Beds” and of course, “Dionne” featuring Justin Vernon. With “Sharing Beds” opening up the EP, its gentle in its melody before being overtaken by the powerful voice of Amber. The track dances around techno-rich flu harmony before coming to a blissful end – a warm welcome to this enchanting record.

“Dionne” comes across as a nostalgic filled track in its sound as its vibes bring you back to 90’s pastel windbreakers and those horrid butterfly hair clips. But those memories fit perfectly against the theme of the track that emulates questioning your intense feelings towards another while dwelling on your personal storyline. The EP’s title track graced our airwaves last year and now closes out the exceptionally well-rounded EP. The somber track leads as a final explanation as to who Amber is as she’s lost in her mind and who she presents to the world as The Japanese House.
