Back in 2011, X Factor made its TV debut in the US. With judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, and L.A. Reid, the four music moguls set out to find fresh, new singers with that X Factor. Gracing the stage at just 17, Drew Ryniewicz caught the eyes of all those around her – but most important her mentor, Simon Cowell.

Drew would go on to lock in 6th place in the competition and later release her hit single Illuminate Me. But too often what happens with these competition musicians is that once the cameras are off so is any and all attention. Drew went on to create a YouTube channel [which now has over 107K subscribers] where she would highlight her covers of today’s most popular artist before going on to use the platform to showcase her original music – while also creating her official stage name Drew Ryn.

Yet even with the popularity of Youtube, Drew Ryn still wasn’t reaching the as wide a fan base as the young singer had hoped. But there is always light at the end of a dark tunnel – in 2018 TikTok merged with Music.ly creating the next big thing in short video sharing platforms. After joining TikTok in early 2019, it didn’t take Drew long to realize that her videos garnering the most attention were her singing videos [especially original content].

Recently Drew Ryn has hopped on the TikTok challenge of writing a song with 3 random words. Using an online word generator, Drew shows viewers her 3 randomly given words and then comes back to deliver a phenomenal verse and chorus mash-up – oh, and it’s all showcased in under 60 seconds. Recently Drew created verse and pre-chorus using the words oppose, chest and orchestra and it’s instant chills. The breathtaking clip quickly went viral, garnering over 2 million likes and over 36 thousand shares in just three days. Of course, the comments have been flooded with pleas for Drew to release a full single of the clip – but no word yet on if that will come to fruition.

Despite being told while on the X Factor that she would never have a powerful voice and that she would never be able to belt and she shouldn’t try – Drew pushed on to become a viral sensation across the TikTok nation and of course, learning how to nail the belt! In just over a year Drew Ryn has obtained over 1.5 Million followers on TikTok proving that you don’t need a full 3 minutes to create hits that people want to have on repeat.
