Platinum-selling German/Croatian producer, Topic, and Swedish singer/songwriter, A7S, have been on fire lately! The duo just reunited on their latest track, “Why Do You Lie To Me” featuring GRAMMY-nominated rapper Lil Baby. Riddled with a lively melody, a dance-worthy beat, and Topic’s signature “melancholic dance music” style, the lyrics and emotional vocals combine for a great product. Ripe with longing, the lyrics feed into the deep summer blues. Pristine mixing and production paired with Lil Baby’s gritty rap style, the melancholy track is sure to be a hit.
“Why Do You Lie To Me” follows their other recent hit, “Breaking Me,” Topic and A7S’s first collaboration. “Breaking Me” which garnered around 670 million combined global streams since its release last December, and is still averaging over a million streams daily in the U.S. alone. After the track went viral on TikTok, the single rose to the Top 5 of the UK Official Singles Chart, as well as on the Billboard Hot 100. The track topped the Mediabase U.S. dance radio and the Global Top 200 Shazam charts. Currently, the track is at No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, can be found on 109 Spotify & 264 Apple charts, and has been certified gold or greater in 18 countries.
Topic tells, “After having a global hit, you might feel the whole world is watching you very closely when it comes to the follow-up single. I teamed up with A7S again for this single and having such a great artist as Lil Baby join us as a feature rounds it up perfectly. He gives it the rough touch it needed.”
2020 has been a successful year for all three artists. Topic followed his previous hits “Light It Up” and “Home” ft. Nico Santos [gained Platinum status in Germany and double Platinum in Australia] with a recently remixed version of Surf Mesa’s “ily (i love you baby)” ft. Emilee. He’s been creating music since he was 16, and after gaining traction on social media in 2014 with “Light It Up,” along with his melancholic dance style, he went viral.
