Denver-based artist, YaSi releases her latest single “Guilty.” The sultry and sexy R&B-infused track is a raw representation of YaSi as an artist. She also shares the single’s accompanying music video. This is the first release off her upcoming EP, Coexist With Chaos.

Guilty” is an up-beat pop track infused with a sensual R&B vocal style. YaSi tackles writing about flirtatious urges while remaining loyal to a partner – maybe. She paints the situation perfectly, “feeling guilty even talking” to someone else and “thinking about another, when you have a lover.” Her message is clear and even brutally honest at times, disguised in the addicting hooks of the choruses. In addition to her songwriting abilities, YaSi has dynamic and strong vocal styles. She ranges from soft croons of “oohs and ahhs”, to bellowing deliveries of her most powerful lines in “Guilty.YaSi’s vocal styles lie somewhere between the likes of Amy Winehouse, Julia Michaels and even Adele.

On her latest track, YaSi says, To be clear, I don’t condone cheating at all – even hypothetically speaking – but “Guilty” is about that gray area of relationships that makes you wonder, should I be feeling guilty about innocent flirting, and does this make me a bad partner?” It’s a difficult topic to address, one that YaSi is brave enough to discuss. The accompanying music video is a representation of her Iranian-American background. The video for “Guilty” features vintage cars, Coors Beer, and motorcycles, the all-American trifecta. However, in the nooks and crannies of the scenes you’ll find cameos of things that are a tribute to her Iranian heritage. Some of these being, rose water, a photo wall of Iranian inspired pictures, and even the stylish tunic she sports throughout the video. YaSi brings forth the best delineation of herself visually and sonically with this release.

The upcoming EP Coexist With Chaos is the purest representation of YaSi to date. She creates songs that toe the line between Eastern and Western influences, between ebullience and sultriness, between optimism and realism. It’s a reflective release, including some weightier topics – very much a product of the environment surrounding the EP’s creation. YaSi’s writing finds inspiration from the world outside her window, reflective of the Black Lives Matter protests, turmoil in her parents’ homeland, and the raging pandemic.

YaSi is not one thing, to be clear. She proudly states, ““I’m 100% Iranian and 100% American.” Making sure she represents both sides in all she does, YaSi makes an effort to use her voice to raise awareness about issues important to her. She hopes to be the spark for someone, a voice that makes ears perk up, horizons expand, and world views shift. “Guilty” is just the first taste of the upcoming record, full of empowering pop anthems to politically relevant power ballads. Coexist With Chaos is set to release April 2nd, 2021 with Royal Rhythm Recordings.
