Charming Liars is rising to new heights with their ethereal new single “LOSERS” – an anthem for the ones who feel overlooked and underestimated, for all the underdogs singing along. With their signature alternative sound and soothing vocals, the track is about evolving through the good and the bad. Speaking on the new single, the band shares, “Our new song ‘Losers’ was inspired by one thing – who we become after losing something or someone irreplaceable. It’s in those moments of transformation that we feel the sharpest edges of our humanity and it’s also when we find our truest strength. This song’s about finding ownership and pride in the losses that helped make up the person you are today. It’s about time we sing a song for the losers.”
“LOSERS” follows Charming Liars’ recent cover of Post Malone’s “Circles.” All proceeds from purchases and streams of the cover benefit disaster relief in Lebanon through donations to Lebanese Red Cross, Impact Lebanon, Saint George Hospital Beirut, and other organizations seeking to help rebuild after the explosions that devastated the area earlier this summer. The song has seen support from Grammy.com, Sir Elton John, Serj Tankian [System Of A Down], and more. “LOSERS” also comes on the foot of other recent singles, “Disco Elvis”, “Favorite Show”, “Golden State”, “Blame”, “Flames”, and “IMPACT.”
Charming Liars formed in London’s West End when guitarist, Karnig Manoukian, and bassist, Mike Kruger, were still in their teens in. Both musicians began developing their style at home, influenced by a wide range of eclectic musical tastes. The duo wrote and played together in a series of bands, as well as in several tours up and down the U.K.
They made the move to Los Angeles in 2013, encouraged by a social media message from songwriter and producer John Feldmann [Panic! at the Disco, Plain White T’s, 5 Seconds of Summer, Blink-182]. Soon after, they found vocalist, Kiliyan Maguire, through a mutual friend. Their newfound friendship lead to some songwriting and then recording sessions, where the 3 musicians realized that they had an organic musical chemistry that flowed naturally.
2019 became a breakout year for Charming Liars, as they released their debut album, Thought, Flesh and Bone, a follow-up acoustic EP, Bare Bones, and then finished the year off strong with a live collection titled Live 2019. They didn’t stop there, even headlining shows on the West Coast, touring Europe with The Faim, and crossing the US to support for Angels & Airwaves. Recently, the band returned to Europe with Palaye Royale, who they will be supporting on The Bastards World Tour.
