Bilingual Latin-pop singer Gina Chavez will continue our live stream performance series — Play Too Much @ SubCulture hosted by Brad Wagner. Catch her performance on Tuesday, July 7 at 2:30 pm EST.
Award-winning Queer Latinx artist Gina Chavez is redefining Latin music. Her music transcends the traditional bounds, easily moving between Latin and pop genres with such confidence. Empowering women everywhere, her recently released all-Spanish album La Que Manda (translated Women in Charge) is “an anthem to reclaim our bodies, our hearts, our voices, and show the world what we’ve known the whole time: we are La Que Manda”.
Not having picked up a guitar until college, Gina has since gained international recognition for her unique sound. Her inspiring folk-pop music has earned her several awards, including 12 Austin Music Awards and the Grand Prize for the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. In addition to music, the proud Austinite has traveled to Japan with the US state department as a cultural ambassador for her hometown of Austin, Texas.
