L.A. based emerging artist, JULIANA. is the pop star destined to be in the music industry. Starting her dream in high school when she began writing songs, JULIANA. proved she had the moxie to make it big as she made it past the ‘Hollywood Round’ of American Idol. While in Boston for college, JULIANA. faced physical health issues that prevented her from singing for over two years. Eventually, after returning home to finish her studies, she moved to New York City for a new perspective. Since then she has rediscovered her love for music and songwriting and the product is her wonderful array of powerful anthems.
Since her 2020 debut single “Call It Quits,” JULIANA. has definitely been busy, releasing new music each month since that first single’s premiere. Following that track were singles “Burn,” “Love Preview,” and her own rendition of “Santa Tell Me” by Ariana Grande with friend, Izzy Pollak. Her original tracks offer retable emotional assertions that she hopes people can relate to. Of her music she shares, “When you listen to my music, I want you to know that someone else is also feeling what you’re feeling in that moment.”
Most recently, she released “Mixed Signals” — as expected, she offers a raw expression of exactly how she feels and allows her listeners to feel those emotions with her. She perfectly conveys the feelings of frustration while being in a confusing, unhealthy relationship. On the subject of her past relationship JULIANA. confesses, “The second that relationship ended, I felt like I was free,” which is captured in this song about finally being done with someone’s wishy washy behavior. On top of relatable lyrics, this track features an incredibly catchy beat and dynamic, dreamy vocals.
JULIANA. considers Julia Michaels, Zara Larsson, and Hailee Steinfeld to be her songwriting inspirations. She admires how they are able to use their lyrics to advocate for female empowerment. In her own songwriting, JULIANA. is not afraid to speak from the heart. She writes about love, heartbreak, depression, manipulation, and independence. She too wants to use her lyrics for good. Her goal is to spread positivity, empowerment, acceptance, and control with her songs in hopes of helping others heal.
