Sultry Spanish-American singer/songwriter, Victoria Canal joins us for our next livestream, Play Too Much @ SubCulture hosted by Brad Wagner! Catch the performance Tuesday, September 8 at 2:30pm ET on Facebook and YouTube Live!
At just 22 years old, Victoria has been turning heads across the music world. Fresh off the release of her EP, Victoria – she’s been a beacon of inspiration as she fights for more representation for disabled artists in the industry. The project featured her previously released singles, “Second” and “Drama”, which later became the guiding soundtrack featured in the Nike Fearless Ones campaign. The beloved alt-pop artist has been outspoken about her mission for self-love and encouraging others to find their worth.
The Nike campaign revolved around her single to promote their latest revolution, Jordan Flyease – a shoe designed for athletes with disabilities. Victoria’s mission to fight for representation of the ‘differently-abled’ artists has been documented in mainstream networks like Now This, with Huffington Post quoting her as “Raising the bar for disabled artists in pop music.”
Her new EP highlights her vulnerable approach to her life prior to 2020. Filled with wisdom from her life experiences, Victoria aims to build a deeper understanding of just how multi-dimensional humans truly are. Co-producing the project, Victoria shares, “the entire Victoria EP is an exploration of my ‘self-worth meter’, how it functions in two modes like an on-off switch. But also, how all these different parts of a person can coexist with each other – I can be a blissed out yogi, and also an awkward mess. I can feel like my own best friend, but also like my arch-nemesis.”
