Who knew a trip to the CVS could be so much fun! Winnetka Bowling League certainly did with their newly released music video for their single “CVS” on Friday, February 28. The song was lifted from the band’s soon to be released EP that will follow their tour with alternative band Flor. The video, directed by Zack Sekuler, features celebrity appearances inside a CVS Pharmacy at 1:00 am.
This comical, tongue in cheek video follows an angst-ridden shopper buying chocolate hearts, while he and the band entertainingly fulfill the actual store prerequisites such as “communicate feel-good prices” and “expert pharmacist on duty.”
And as for the anticipated celebrity cameos, the video follows the lead shopper to the pharmacy in the back of the store where the lights dim and the spotlight shines on pharmacist Hilary Duff. She spins around wearing a CVS uniform, at the ready with his prescription in hand. The welcoming pharmacologist-once-Disney-star points to her nametag that asks, “How can I help?” and with a wink and a nod we’re reminded that the actress is not a licensed pharmacist. Christopher Mintz-Plasse, actor, comedian, musician, and Koma’s best friend, appears as a massage therapist with graphics nudging the shopper to join ExtraCare for attentive service.
The song’s chorus, “I want to buy you chocolate hearts from CVS, kiss you too hard and follow you west, sing you sad songs on a Sunday afternoon,” is a list of romantic surprises for his beloved wife. Although this is not the first time Koma and Duff united for something music-related — they covered Third Eye Blind’s “Never Let You Go” — it is the most entertaining. Koma says that CVS is a tribute and an apology to his significant other for all the dumb things he says at the worst possible times.
