The staple post-hardcore band, Atreyu, returns with the announcement of their upcoming record, Baptize. Additionally, the band prepares us for what’s to come by sharing two singles off the record, “Warrior” featuring Travis Barker, and “Underrated.” Baptize arrives June 4th via Spinefarm Records.
“Warrior” is an anthemic radio-rock friendly track. Blink-182’s Travis Barker joins Atreyu, making for an energetic backbeat to support the band as they take on this lighter sound. “When we wrote ‘Warrior,’ the idea to do a big marching drum break came about. We wanted it to feel like a hometown football game. Travis Barker was the perfect person to bring this to life. It’s cool to have him be a part of the song and to perform in a different light than what people may be used to.” Lyrically, the track is about persistence and grit, sending the message of ‘never giving up’. “Sometimes, greatness can exist in the shadows and lives buried under negativity, trauma, or anxiety. ‘Warrior’ is about searching through all of that endless darkness to finally find the sunrise.” says the band.
“Underrated” is a hard-hitting, classic post-hardcore track. It has elements found in most post-hardcore songs, making it a familiar and welcoming track for fans who have been around since the band’s early days. Melodic hooks in the chorus, blast beats, the classic distorted ‘chug’ of the guitars and heavy breakdowns can be found in “Underrated.” The song feels like an ode to the beginnings of the post-hardcore music scene. Atreyu speaks on the track, “We’ve always had to prove ourselves. We’ve never been handed anything nor have we taken any shortcuts. It’s never been ‘the easy way.’ Over two decades later, we’re still making our mark.“
Atreyu is a pioneering heavy post hardcore band consisting of Brandon Saller (Vocals), Dan Jacobs (Guitar), Travis Miguel (Guitar), Porter McKnight (Bass + Vocals) and Kyle Rosa (drums). The group has been around for a while, and has maintained a loyal and growing fanbase in the scene. Originally from Southern California, Atreyu has paid their dues touring under events like Ozzfest and Warped Tour, and alongside groups like Thrice and Deftones. The band has released 8 full length albums and a healthy handful of singles in their career and prove to be withstanding the test of time. Atreyu’s next album, “Baptize” will be out June 4th 2021, via Spinefarm Records.
