Good Terms Turning Point

Good Terms Turning PointLos Angeles-based Good Terms, the self-proclaimed “friendly neighborhood emo band,” have announced their debut album, Turning Point, will drop April 9 via Four 4 Four. The album tackles ideas of being disappointed with the overhyped reality of adulthood, facing inadequate relationships and attempting to escape the mundanity of life while searching for its worthwhile qualities.

Of the upcoming album, guitarist, vocalist and album producer Zach Boucher shares: “Creating this album and starting this band together is our Turning Point. It’s about Ivan [guitar, vocals] escaping his life of complacency in rural Virginia and finally moving to LA, it’s about me quitting my safe desk job and creating music for a living, it’s the Turning Point that’s allowing all of us to put aside our fears and start a new life and journey together.”

Fortunately, the 11-track is already available for pre-order. The announcement follows the band’s latest single, “Pedestal,” a guitar-driven punk track that’s laced with hardcore, as frontman Brian McShea‘s calm, cool and collected vocals are replaced from time to time with incredibly well-executed screams.

McShea speaks for the entire band when he says this album is achieving a goal he and his bandmates have been working toward their whole lives. “We made Turning Point during late nights and weekends, a little dream that’s grown to be a huge part of our lives. The opportunities to make this record were always small moments in between jobs, and the seeds we planted in cracks and crevices eventually took root and made space to grow,” McShea reveals.

Good Terms is a group of four friends who have worked behind the scenes in the industry for years and have come together to find and commemorate the reasons they made music a lifelong commitment. The group records, produces and mixes all their music (not to mention, they all contribute vocals), and they don’t shy away from veering off into experimentation, testing out everything from emo pop to hardcore. Any fan of emo music and bands like Brooklane and Go For Gold will love Good Terms‘ content thus far as well as what’s to come — because from what we’ve seen so far, the debut album is promising to be one of the greatest the emo genre has seen in a long time.
