News of the passing of Injury Reserve’s second lead vocalist, Steppa J. Groggs, became public June 30 – devastating family, friends, and fans around the globe. Steppa J. Groggs [also known as Jordan Groggs] passed away June 29 according to an official statement from the group’s Instagram. The Arizona group page read,REST IN POWER Jordan Alexander Groggs a loving father, life partner, and friend. (6/1/1988-6/29/2020) link in bio for GoFundMe to support his family and services.”

Groggs was known for working alongside producer, Parker Corey, and fellow lyricist, Ritchie with a T – creating projects to the likes of, Cooler Colors, Live at the Dentist Office, Floss, Drive it like it’s stolen, and their Self Titled debut record that dropped last year. Groggs is known for collaborating with other artists such as Aminé, JPEGMafia, and Rico Nasty. Together their biggest song on Spotify is “ttktv” from their first mixtape Live at the Dentist Office – grossing over 11 million streams, while their debut album has gained over 22 million views since its release. Earlier this year the group released 3 tracks over a three day period – “Hoodwinked”, “Waste Management”, and “Rock N Roll”. According to Genius, Robert [named after legendary photographer, Robert Mapplethorpe] is an experimental electronic track featuring a verse from Steppa J. Groggs of Injury Reserve, who Jockstrap opened for in their UK tour.”

While the cause of Steppa J. Groggs death is still unknown to the general public, a GoFundMe has been set up for the late rapper by Anna Ford to help with the cost of burial. A statement was posted at the bottom, “REST IN POWER Jordan Alexander Groggs a loving father, life partner, and friend. Groggs’s heart has touched everyone he had come across. He will live on through his family, supporters, and the communities he was apart of. Jordan Alexander Groggs is survived by Anna and their four children Joey, Jayden, Toph, and Ari.
