Ringo Starr has announced his annual birthday celebration Ringo’s Big Birthday Show for his 80th birthday. This event will be broadcast to benefit four charities: Black Lives Matter Global Network, the David Lynch Foundation, Musicares, and WaterAid. The broadcast will air on Ringo’s YouTube channel on July 7 at 5:00 pm PDT. The show will feature original at-home performances as well as never-before-seen concert footage from Starr, Paul McCartney, and Joe Walsh as well as Gary Clark Jr., Sheryl Crow, Sheila E., and Ben Harper, and more.
“As everyone knows I love gathering with fans for peace and love on my birthday. But this year, I want everyone to be safe at home – so I called up a few friends and we put this Big Birthday Show together so we could still celebrate my birthday with you all, with some great music for some great charities. I hope you will all join me! Peace and Love, Ringo.”
The event will feature the premiere of a guest star version of Starr’s “Give More Love” that was made to benefit Musicares and will feature Jeff Bridges, Jackson Brown, T Bone Burnette, Elvis Costello, Rodney Crowell, Steve Earle, Peter Frampton, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald, Keb Mo, and Willie Nelson.
In addition, a playlist of unique tribute performances will become available on Starr’s YouTube channel. The playlist will include artists who have recorded Ringo’s songs for previous birthday celebrations, along with new versions of which the musicians will be posting to their social media. Look for musical tributes from Ben Folds, Ben Dickey, Bettye LaVette, Colin Hay, Elvis Costello, Gregg Rolie, Judy Collins, Peter Frampton, Richard Marx, Steve Earle, Steve Lukather and many more.
Although Ringo will not be celebrating his 80th birthday with friends and family, directly, he encourages everyone to keep #peaceandlove in mind and to spread that positivity at noon on July 7. Fans around the world are already organizing events online to make Ringo’s birthday wish of global Peace & Love come true. Over the years Ringo’s Big Birthday Show has been seen all around the globe and benefited hundreds of thousands of people and charities alike. Don’t miss out on this annual celebration in love and unity.
