PRONOUN shares the lead single for her upcoming EP, “I Wanna Die But I Cant (Cuz I Gotta Keep Living).” PRONOUN shares this polished and daring single, keeping us on our toes for more music. The Brooklyn based artist, named Alyse Vellturo, announces OMG I MADE IT will arrive on June 11th via Wax Records.
“I Wanna Die But I Cant (Cuz I Gotta Keep Living)” is a danceable alt-pop groove. A steady and funk-tinged bass sustains the track’s pulse. Vellturo’s hushed vocals balance out the ringing and electrifying guitars that is the main backbone of the instrumentals. The track is all about the varying paces of life different people experience. Vellturo explores feelings and fears of being left behind while others carry on with their lives. She confesses, “Pick apart my peaking past, stress about my future.” Her soft voice floats a top the static instrumentals. Vellturo is able to produce a track with edge while maintaining colorful and dreamy soundscape’s that she is known for.
She speaks on the track which is “about the uncomfortable feeling that everyone around you is growing into their own lives while I feel like nothing’s changing within myself. It’s the feeling of not wanting to be on this planet but knowing I really have to put in effort and figure out how to make life work for me.” Alyse Vellturo releases this single to offer comfort to those who feel similarly. It’s hard to avoid the pressure of moving on in life amidst the global chaos, but Vellturo released this single just in time. “It’s literally a hard look in the mirror, by myself, in a bathroom, asking myself what the hell is up. I’m talking to myself throughout the entire thing, but these days who isn’t.”
OMG I MADE IT is Vellturo’s self-written and produced record. She maintains her signature sound that lies in bedroom pop with electric twists. Vellturo continues writing candidly about mental health, honesty, and uncertainty. PRONOUN’s instrumentals are similar to the likes of Tegan and Sara and Kississippi. On the other hand, her songwriting captures the influence of bands like Dashboard Confessional, and Taking Back Sunday. The songwriter describes OMG I MADE IT as a replacement for catching up with someone over the past year. “It’s as if I bumped into an old friend who asked how I have been and I just started vomiting for 18 minutes and 9 seconds.” OMG I MADE IT arrives June 11th via Wax Records.
