Singer-songwriter, RYDYR, is starting his new highly anticipated era with his robust new music video for “Dream Alone”-  upheld by finger-picked acoustic guitar, a catchy beat, and quivering harmonies. “Dream Alone” is about a personal dialogue showcasing fluttering harmonies and vocals that stretch from exposed verses into a tuneful hook, “I dream alone.” This is the first single off his forthcoming EP, which will feature bold and bright pop, offset with alternative adventurousness and timeless rocker aspiration, planted in live instrumentation and unfiltered vocals.

Dream Alone can be interpreted a few different ways. I think that’s one of the best parts about it. It can fit with whatever it is in your life that you’re struggling with, wanting to let go of, or find. I wrote this song with Zakk Cervini. We wanted to convey the story and the feeling of a time in my life when I felt lost and disconnected from my full sense of self, and the journey to find what that all even meant, “ RYDYR shared with Billboard.Sometimes it’s scary to feel lost, but it can also be freeing at the same time. This song is like a call of the voice inside you to push through whatever obstacles are in the way on your journey. I think it’s especially important given the times we are currently in, and I hope it resonates with people.”

Dream Alone” can be understood in different ways. In the official video, we see a hooded figure about to jump off a bridge, whom RYDYR runs to save, only to realize that the hooded figure had been himself all along. “Hello friend, have you gone away?/ It’s been years, months and days since I’ve seen your face/ I’ll see it again, just not today/ You’ve been torn apart and scarred but you’ll be OK,” he sings, both hopeful and painful, as the tracks opening verse.

Cole Pendery uses the moniker RYDYR as his stage name as to allow himself a complete creative outlet by mirroring a vision hinted at by the chosen alias – a respelling of his mother’s maiden name Ryder. RYDYR symbolizes transparentness to the process and personifies honesty but also supplies him with a platform to step out of himself.

Growing up in a small town outside of Dallas, TX, RYDYR moved to LA to pursue music full-time. He went from booking gigs on the Disney Channel to joining pop sensation IM5, garnering tens of millions of streams and views, touring the globe, and performing for thousands of fans across the world. As he was ready for the next stage of his development as an artist, he wrote music throughout 2018 and 2019 that would later become his debut EP, recording alongside producer, Zakk Cervini. Later on, RYDYR founded his own label, Shadowwoods Records, on which he released his music – a homage to the backwoods trail Shadowwood Road of which his late grandfather built, and where Cole plans to carve his own path similar to his grandfathers’ so he can build a platform for both himself and other emerging artists.
