Thursday Is Finding New Ways The Music World Can Help With Covid-19

It’s no secret that current times have drastically affected the music world. From cancelled/postponed tours and festivals to venues completely shutting down – the industry is struggling in a way we never could have imagined. Countless bands and artists have been going live from inside their personal quarantines to not only help fans’ mental health but also in an effort to raise money for various charities to help those affected by this deadly pandemic. Yet, one post-hardcore band are taking a new route to help combat the spread of the virus.

Earlier this week New Jersey natives, Thursday, announced that they have started the process of turning appropriate stock merchandise from their web store into fabric face masks for frontline medical workers and essential personnel. They are currently partnered with a factory and several volunteer organizations to make this possible. Thursday said they would be releasing more information soon to let fans know how they can help.

For everyone that has been following the spread of Covid-19, it’s no surprise that protective face masks have become a very scarce since the start of this. So much so, that medical staff and essential frontline workers are either forced to wear the same mask over the course of 12+ hour shifts or nothing at all. Some doctors were left with no option but to buy face masks on the black market [at a huge mark up price]  in order to protect themselves and coworkers while they handle patients – meanwhile, some nurses were left with the very difficult decision to quit their jobs in order to protect themselves and their families from the virus.

Right now the world is spinning uncontrollably while at a deafening stand-still – many are left without jobs, healthcare or even shelter. We can all do our part to help stop the spread of Covid-19 – whether that’s by donating money to a charity, donating blood, donating medical supplies [gloves and masks] to your local hospital, buying groceries for an elderly or autoimmune compromised person so they don’t have to go out or just by simply staying home. Stay safe, stay healthy and stay the fuck home.
