TikTok has become known for bringing us challenges and trends of all varieties – from the ridiculous to the jaw-dropping – someone somewhere will attempt said challenge or trend and someone else will completely nail it. One TikToker who completely nailed the Love Story Challenge just so happens to be, Alex Melton. In the challenge, TikTokers place their phones/cameras on a device [usually a hoverboard] that they push away moments before the beat drops in a remixed version of Taylor Swift’s iconic, “Love Story”, signaling all involved to bust out in fun dance move. Well, Alex took on the challenge and brought it to a brand new level.

Best known for his ‘punk goes country’ and pop-punk cover song mash-ups – Alex tried his hand at making T-Shift go punk. In an empty, dark theater, Alex is seen waiting for the beat to drop. As he pushed the camera for its classic pan out, the room illuminates with blinding spotlights while he belts out the lyrics to “Love Story”, leaving everyone’s jaws on the floor with shivers up their spines.

Within the first 24 hours of posting, the video had garnered a few hundred thousand views and Alex had gained just as many followers. Fans quickly flocked to his page, pleading for him to release a full rendition of the song. Three days later, Alex obliged and the full version was uploaded to his YouTube channel. The now-viral TikTok sits pretty at over 959.7K views and counting – while Alex Melton continues to grow his fanbase.

Alex has created unique covers of everyone from Sum 41 and Panic! At The Disco to Post Malone and Juice WRLD, to even taking on Disney’s iconic “Under the Sea” from animated classic The Little Mermaid. His most recent cover tackles Metro Station’s scene kid anthem, “Shake It”, with a country twang. While Alex’s original content is equally as appealing, it takes a special kind of creator to completely reinvent classic music staples as an entirely new entity that gets people excited about them once again.
