It’s another week and guess what? TikTok Tuesday has yet another fascinating artist discovery! Drummer, Dom D’Alfonso is taking Olivia Rodrigo’s number one hit “Driver’s License,” to a whole new level. Dom isn’t your average drummer. He’s known for taking popular songs and putting his own groove to them. It’s incredible to hear the difference that adding some drums to a track can make — truly transformative! Especially when it comes to Dom’s powerful and spirited drum skills. Dom mentioned in one of his Facebook posts that he’s always liked the heavier side of music and it shows in his videos and his personal music.
Heartache is the perfect ingredient for creating a musical masterpiece. Olivia Rodrigo does so in her most recent number 1 hit. The achingly beautiful ballet, “Driver’s License,” features some deep and moving lyrics that are enough to give you chills. Rodrigo truly pours her heart out into the song. Dom takes the song right at its most intense part in the chorus and puts a whole new twist to it. He turns it into a heavier “emo” rock song. The video starts with him building excitement and anticipation in the chorus. As the video goes on, it eventually reaches the dreamy and echoey bridge. This is where Dom lets go 100% playing his heart out. The song was very dramatic to begin with, but the drums take it from a level 10 to a level 100 of dramatics. Dom offers all his energy in his playing, making songs have a more powerful and dramatic sound.

In another one of his TikTok videos, Dom duetted with bass player W6RST to Ariana Grande’s hit single “positions,” — a track originally known for its a playful pop energy. When Dom gets on the drums, the song takes a total 180. It’s interesting to take the original genre of a song and completely change it to something at the whole other end of the spectrum.
Aside from his unique TikTok remakes, D’Alfonso’s has 2 personal songs on Spotify. Released in 2015, Dom’s debut single “Kick It,”opens up with a fresh and fun strumming guitar, shortly welcoming Dom’s groovy drum playing. The track easily becomes a hit due to its groovy vibes and overall fun approach. “Ball Again,” is his second and most recent release to date. This song definitely showcases Dom’s love for the heavier side of music. The wailing of the electric guitar and vocals mixed with Dom’s heavy beating of the drums creates a head banging jam.
