TikTok is bursting with all types of musical talent – everyone from producers and solo artists, to rappers who collaborate with other creators of different genres – TikTok will have you falling in love with music you never knew you vibed with. For TikTok Tuesday; however, we wanted to showcase a talented musician from an underrated pop punk band. Josh Cravey lead Florida based group, Palm Trees & Power Lines as their brilliant vocalist and one of their guitarist. Although the band became vastly known for their covers, their originals hit just as hard.

With their name paying tribute to Sugarcult’s fourth studio album, Palm Trees & Power Lines released their debut EP, High Hopes back November of 2013. Receive high amounts of praise from critics and fans alike, the band when on to perform at the 2014 Orlando date of the Vans Warped Tour. After seeing much success on radio shows, their song “Listen” was chosen as Song of The Year for the PGA Tour’s THE PLAYERS Championship. Before calling it quits as Palm Trees & Power Lines back in 2018, they released one final collection of tracks together – Animalistic. The 6 song project touch fans deeper later knowing that this would be the end of PTPL – but as promised on their Facebook, this would not be the last time they would be creating music.

PTPL shared in part, “…As we have grown, so have our musical tastes. When we were writing these new songs, it no longer felt like Palm Trees & Power Lines. We knew it wouldn’t be right to our fans to try and pass our new music off as PTPL, so rather than releasing it as such, we have decided to start a new project. We’d like to introduce you all to The Modrn. We’ve been working on new music, videos, and many other exciting things in the background and we couldn’t be more thrilled to release everything we’ve been hard at work doing over this past year! Christian will not be continuing with The Modrn, as he has decided to pursue his own endeavors, but he is very thankful for the time spent with the band and remains our close friend.”

While Palm Trees & Power Lines may have started their musical journey together, The Modrn was created to continue it. Though they were one man down, The Modrn managed to rack up over 15K streams on Spotify just a few months after their debut in 2018.

While The Modrn has been relatively quite across their social media, Josh Cravey has taken to TikTok to relive the glory days of PTPL and show off some new stuff he’s been up to. Throughout his TikTok, Cravey highlights some of his favorite covers PTPL ever did of mainstream hits – while also sharing the sad fact that those covers [usually] did much better than his band’s original music with the average view count being around 35K. His highlight reel included covers of 5 Seconds of Summer’s “She Looks So Perfect”, One Direction’s “Steal My Girl”, Zayne Malik’s “Pillow Talk”, and Walk The Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance”.

With just 6 videos posted to his TikTok, Josh has obtained just over 8K followers and over 60K likes – and its still growing! Despite the radio silence from The Modrn, Josh continues to make people jam out with his infectious covers. Just yesterday Cravey posted his pop punk cover of Justin Bieber’s “Holy” and is already receiving some well deserved praise. Keep your eyes peeled for this ‘blonde guy who likes music’ on your For You Page – you won’t want to swipe past him.

@josh.craveyHmmm how can we change up “Holy” by Justin Bieber? Follow if you liked it! ##poppunk ##foryoupage ##fyp ##alternative ##music ##cover ##justinbieber
