Since the rise of TikTok, we have seen an influx of musical talent arise. While the platform’s algorithm allows for artists of similar nature to show up on the For You page of users, that in turn creates a huge separation amongst the genres. TikTok has become best know for their budding pop stars with belting vocals alongside viral hip-hop hits – but what does this mean for those in the alternative and rock scene? Well, luckily for us we’ve found our way to the powerful vocals that belong to Meredith Bell – TikTok’s algorithm be damned.
With over 157.8K followers its curious as to why we haven’t heard of her or her incredible voice before. Unfortunately, TikTok’s new Creator’s Fund may be to blame for Meredith’s recent lack of reach. Over the past few days, Meredith and hundreds of other creators have noticed a significant decrease in viewership and For You page pop-ups despite being some of the top creators. These shadowbans are hindering a wide range of talent from being showcased on the platform and now creators are left begging follows and fellow TikTokers to band together to counteract the bans.
Despite the TikTok overlords – we found her music and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you. Meredith Bell is the frontwoman of the hard rock band Palaceburn, who just recently dropped their new single, “Stars Align” this past Friday. Filled with an explosive melody and vocals reminiscent of Evanescence – “Stars Align” is a power ballad meant to make you feel something deeper. In a recent TikTok, Meredith revealed some behind the scenes footage of the single’s upcoming music video that is expected to drop “very soon.”
While Meredith continues to fight back against TikTok’s shadow bans – there is something you can do to help besides just following her on TikTok, hit the ‘share’ and ‘copy link’ buttons to ensure that TikTok knows that people are interested in Meredith’s killer music with Palaceburn. And to Meredith who recently shared that she may be leaving TikTok due to the bans – don’t give up, don’t be silenced, we finally hear you & we are sticking around for the long hall cause we need more badass women of color fronting rock bands.
