What do you get when you cross Bo Burnham with Lin Manuel Miranda? Easy – TikTok star, Pablo Laucerica of course. We’ll be taking a look at this comedian’s rise to fame for this TikTok Tuesday.
Pablo combines his myriad of skills to create some hilarious TikTok content. As a graduate of NorthWestern college – Pablo uses his his teachings in vocal performance and musical theater to spread incredibly engaging hilarity across his page. His talents don’t stop there though – along with writing comedic tracks for his TikTok, his composition skills shine bright as he’s been in the development on composing his own musical, a la Lin Manuel Miranda.
All of these skills aid in his rise to notoriety on TikTok. He initially started posting covers on the app, but he wasn’t a recognizable face until he started posting his original comedic work. His work aims to be relatable, and it definitely is. The subject of his content ranges from his experience with anxiety to falling in love on the internet, and even a song about how he uses this exact comedy to cope with his feelings.

Some of the other amazing content we’ve been getting from Pablo are his collaborations. He recently posted a song, “Baggage” and he rearranged it to be a duet with fellow TikTok artist, Charlie Curtis-Beard. The comedian and rapper teamed up to bring us an interesting crossover. Pablo’s music style leans more on the jazz-funk side with tight harmonies and funky chord progressions, while Charlie is known for his rap skills. The combination of the two genres make for a surprisingly smooth track.
Yet, TikTok is not the only platform Pablo has been leaving his mark – over on his YouTube channel, Pablo has been posting cover collaborations with his brother, under the guise of Nos Leiras Music. Utilizing and their covers utilize both of their amazing voices and Pablo’s jazz piano skills. Their most recent cover has been Danial Caesar’s “Best Part” where the harmonies included are unmatched. The channel is a great place to catch a glimpse of Pablo’s more serious writing skills. At the start of quarantine, he released a one-take recording of his original song “Let’s Sleep In”. The jazzy song is the perfect backdrop for a lazy Sunday morning, complete with a catchy melody and adorable, musical-theater style lyrics. The chorus is the best part as he sings, “Let’s sleep in, stay in bed/Lay back down and rest your head/Let’s cancel all our plans/And doze off holding hands/Let’s sleep in.”
Pablo Laucerica is an incredibly funny and talented individual. His voice is like silk, his songwriting skills are versatile, and he is insanely hard-working. We hope to see more of his amazing projects in the future.
