TikTokTues: ROSIE Dares To Be Different

ROSIE TikTok Tuesday
Words By: Sarah Aurora

September proved to be a great month for this TikTok artist – receiving an outpour of love for her music, ROSIE is someone who is more than deserving of a TikTok Tuesday Feature. ROSIE first hit the platform in June, but her content took off in September with the introduction of her “song a day” challenge.

Everyday, she challenged herself to post new, original songs to her TikTok – each one just as incredible as the one before it. However, her post on day 5 of the challenge is what caught our attention. Although officially untitled, her followers often refers to it as “The Number Song”, or “Numbers”. The lyrics are incredibly clever and heart-wrenching, singing, “You said 4ever/then left before I counted to 3/Loved you a little 2 much/But I was never the 1.

Her voice makes her an instant standout – light and graceful, reminiscent of Billie Eilish and Chelsea Cutler. Where ROSIE sets herself apart is in the softness she carries in her tone – a voice so soothing and clear, fans fall in love from the moment they hear her.

Her presence on social media, on the whole, is as much a defining feature as her silky voice. On her Instagram, she claims, “No filters, no Facetune, no Vsco, no makeup , 100% real content.” In a social media obsessed world, it’s refreshing to see an artist who presents themselves as authentically as possible. Her social media pages are draped in motivational messages and promotion of self-love. ROSIE is unafraid to speak out against the pressures she feels to wear makeup and filter her photos due to the industry. It’s clear that her 321k TikTok followers don’t care about her choice to be all natural. In fact, they embrace it.

Her authenticity carries over into her music, with all of the songs she shares on her TikTok being raw and true thoughts. She isn’t scared to let people see who she really is and how she really feels. It’s apparent that her audience is drawn to her because she isn’t afraid to let them see every side of her – the good and the bad.

With the success of her TikTok profile, The Berklee alum shared in a post on her Instagram that she’s officially decided to pursue her songwriting career full time. In this same post, she announced her move to Brooklyn and her new job writing for publishers such as Warner Chappell. As the youngest recipient of Berklee’s Songwriting Achievement Award, it’s no secret that ROSIE will continue to produce amazing songs and wow us with what she creates.
