Following in the footsteps of powerful and moving march songs, V. Tiarrá released “Batter Up.” A track with many layers and relevancy, V. Tiarrá is a performer with a heavy lyrical prowess. Planting seeds for new thinking and shifting the mindset, V.’s newest song encourages everyone to be revolutionary in their own way.
Soulfully and flawlessly combining R&B with hip-hop and world music, V. Tiarrá’s performances, especially on “Batter Up,” showcase her range as a lyricist and songwriter when it comes to discussing various subject matters.
“Unfortunately, watching the news these days has become like watching an episode of Jerry Springer. This is sad especially as much of the news revolves around the political dealings of our government officials and lawmakers, people that are supposedly responsible for making our lives better,” said V. Tiarrá about her new song. “I created Batter Up as a social justice anthem, a reminder to the masses that government has a real responsibility and needs to be held accountable for our wellbeing. It’s not a game — leaders need to take their jobs seriously and not just be politicking.”
The music video further showcases the depth of the song. Using the baseball imagery as a loose theme, “Batter Up” also makes large statements, between protesters leading a movement and signs referencing mass shootings in America. A poignant song and video, V. shows that nothing truly has changed over the years, especially in terms of the government and accountability right now, when social protest is leading to change.
