Alexander 23, a singer-songwriter on the rise, has released a new self-produced track “Loving You Gets Hard,” along with an official music video.
“Loving You Gets Hard” is yet another perfect example of the artists’ innate gift for creating art from complicated relationships and intense emotion. The song mirrors the reality of being in a committed relationship and being there for someone you love, even if it is the hardest thing to do at the moment. An anthemic swell of production glides along with the lyrics of the chorus swimmingly, “When loving you gets hard / I will love you harder / I knew it from the start / That your love would be harder, baby.”
In the video for “Loving You Gets Hard,” we see Alexander 23 standing in front of a white screen, singing along to the intro of the song, then as the lyrics “you turned away…”, he turns and strolls away from the screen into the desert scenery to continue. The emotion shown by Alexander in the video reflects the vibe of the song – mellow and heartfelt. Throughout the video he plays a variety of instruments from the keyboard to a bass guitar, then eventually he comes across a microphone where he closes out the video in front of a majestic California sunset.
“I thought about postponing the song release due to everything going on,” says Alexander. “But I think maintaining as much normalcy (while still being safe) as we can is something that we owe to ourselves and each other. Additionally, I think the message of the song really applies to what we are all going through right now: being there for people when things are easy is easy, but being there for people when things get hard is hard. It’s the latter that really defines a compassionate relationship.“
