NYC-based rock duo, Black Satellite shares the music video for their track, “Void.” Members of the group Larissa Vale and Kyle Hawken announce they are returning to the road this Fall to tour with Fozzy and special guests like Through Fire and Royal Bliss.
Larissa Vale embraces darkness, heard in her raspy growls as she takes the forefront on this track. The duo knows how to compliment each other, between Hawken’s turbulent guitar riffs and Vale’s powerful cries. “Void” is in the vein of hard rock and metal to the likes of Breaking Benjamin and In This Moment. Vale speaks on the gritty track sharing, “With ‘Void’ we wanted to capture the feeling of being completely devoured by the darkest parts of the psyche. The suffocating and truly terrifying experience of watching the floor fall out from under you, not knowing how far you’ll fall. The void being the existential dread most of us carry. When it’s there, it’s all-consuming.”
The music video is a gruesome representation of that psyche. A grim and haunting building with writing sprawled on the walls, depicts the maze of the mind that one can get lost in. Vale and Hawken keep you on your toes as they search the building. The two are unknowingly in close counters with a feral human-like creature. The video best depicts one’s all-consuming darkness when Vale sinks into a black sludge, leaving you to wonder what the consequences of it are.
Black Satellite is comprised of Larissa Vale and Kyle Hawken — a duo that takes on bold expression both in aesthetic and musical expression. Their unified writing style is a culmination of their deep-rooted partnership. Their first single, “Valkyrie” from their full-length album, Endless, carved space for them in rock radio. On the record they reimagine Type O Negative’s “I Don’t Wanna Be Me” and “My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend.” Black Satellite has features with Billboard, Huffington Post, Alternative Press, Knotfest.com, and Hot Topic’s Snapchat Takeover.
The duo looks forward to touring the Midwest in the coming Fall. The 11-show run includes cities like Cleveland, Nashville, and more. Black Satellite is equally excited to share their sophomore album, Aftermath, which is due for release later this year. The record is mixed by veteran producer Ben Grosse [Filter, Breaking Benjamin, Marilyn Manson] and mastered by Ted Jensen.
